First Followers was created in 2016 and is the first of its kind, a daily diary of decisions by the President of the United States and other executive branch officials that implicate the five freedoms of the First Amendment: religion, speech, press, assembly, and petition.

This website is made possible through a partnership between the New England First Amendment Coalition and the Caledonian Record. NEFAC is a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving democracy, protecting First Amendment freedoms and strengthening New England communities. The Caledonian Record is a family-owned, independent daily newspaper distributed in Northeastern Vermont and Northern New Hampshire.

All of the stories featured on this site are tagged and cited allowing for easy searching. The stories are tagged by their source and the number president (i.e. Trump is #45) relevant to each story.

A great way to start using this site is by searching the tags on the left-hand side of the page, where categories are already identified.

Tags are recommended for broader searches. For example, if you hit the “public records” tag, then all of the stories posted concerning public records will appear.

If a more personalized search is needed, the search bar is recommended. For example, typing “Jeff Sessions investigation” in the search bar will result in all of the stories about the investigation. However, if one wanted the same results, but hit the “Jeff Sessions” tag, then every story about Jeff Sessions would appear.

The stories posted on the website are just the ones we were able to find, but we encourage everyone to contribute to the site by submitting any stories we missed below via the Contact Form.
